It’s one of the races that count for the International Sled
dog Sports Federation –IFSS- World Cup. Pirena also counts
for the European Sled dog Racing Association –ESDRA- Europe
Cup.
Seventeen years after the first edition, the sleddog races have
been gaining fans and our mountains have become a reference place
to this sport.
During these years, Pirena has got the economical and institutional
support of all the autonomous governing bodies touching those
mountains: Aragon, Catalonia, Andorra, France…
Pirena Director, Pep Parés, is the vice-president of the
IFSS (International Federation of Sleddog Sports), where also
is the Spanish responsible. With this responsibility, Pep Parés
had started a campaign to collect signatures to make this sport
recognised by the IOC (International Olympic Committee). This
initiative had the support of a lot of people around the world.
37 countries from five continents have yet representation in the
International Federation. The goal is to converting the mushing
in an Olympic sport in 5 years.
