The 20th edition of Pirena, the white route of the Pyrenees, starts in Zaragoza on January 23rd, 2010, and finishes in La Molina on Saturday February 6th

The 20th edition of Pirena, the white route of the Pyrenees, is here. Again, the emotion, the strenght and the brave spectacle of Pirena. This year, the race arrives with two excellent flavors. One is the sweet taste that left us the last edition, full of snow and cold and epic images of yesteryear. And the other is the great expectations of this coming twentieth edition of Pirena. Over 40 teams are registered for this year and are currently preparing and completing its development to face in the best conditions the great event of mushing in southern Europe.

Three major developments of the 2010 edition warm up Pirena. On one side, the boom experienced by the discipline of skijoring: from 6 athletes last year, it jumps to 15 enrolled teams this year, a good portion of them women. Another news is the arrival of the Czech army, a battalion of brave athletes led by the musher Pfeifer and the skijorer Porubska. The Czech come to conquer the Pyrenees with a total of 10 teams, almost 25% of the whole participation.

And thirdly, forecasts foresee a struggle between some of the best teams in the world. In Pirena 2010 there will be the last three winners of the race (the Spanish Ozcoidi and Domingo, and the German Andres), the top ten last year without exception, and the Spanish musher Juan Carlos Quintana, many times national champion, and last year's winner of the Alpen Trail, in South Tyrol, in 6 dogs sleighs discipline. The battle at the summit is served. Give way, the dogs are coming, the mushers, the sleds ... the big caravan of the Pyrenees.
